Mirror Image

Hello Mr. Scott, we don't know each other but I was googling my wife's name at Starbucks this morning (I lost her dang email address) and wondered what the heck comes up under my name. Oddly enough the guest comments I've written for the News and Review placed me at number one but you came up next. The only other time I've had this type of media induced deja vu was when some other Jeffrey Scott was shot by Sacramento Sheriff's after an ugly five day meth spree.

What's really funny about this is that the last guest comment I wrote on the Terri Schiavo tangent really pissed off my dittohead dad. So you can imagine when your name popped up as the [past] Log Cabin Republican President for Sacramento I couldn't help wondering about my Dad. Would your staunch, politically active Republicanism cancel out the abhorrent deviance of homosexuality? If so how much and how long before the scales began to tip towards understanding and respect? Would the "abstinence until marriage" plank yield to "gay marriage" or would both still be held dear in a hypocritical detente?

My mind is racing with the triple mocha induced possibilities.

So what are your thoughts on Gay Marriage? It makes logical sense to me but so does small government, states rights and border control, and neither party seems to be interested in those concepts at the moment - or ever. What do you think about the war on terror- Afghanistan vs. Iraq and the whole patriot act debacle? What's your dad like and how does he deal with your political views? My Dad is pretty cool but he has these pesky, doggedly held, completely unresearched beliefs that have only the barest foothold on factual reality. What do the Log Cabin Republicans believe in? Are you guys and gals more into social conservatism versus fiscal conservatism? Or vice versa? I've been fascinated with the Log Cabin Republicans for years since it seems so...well...diametrically opposed to everything that the socially conservative, evangelical base believes in. For instance, a couple of weeks ago I heard Michael Medved discussing the problems of letting Gay Scout Leaders near young boys because they are gay and would, of course, be unwholesomely attracted to the boys in the troop. There was no mention of fathers leading girl scout troops though and it hit me that this was because Michael - and many other Social Conservatives - view homosexuality as deviant, sinful and downright icky. Gay Marriage equals NAMBLA and any give on the issue is a oil slicked slope towards necropheliac, under age, satanic bestiality. How do you deal with that viewpoint from your own party?

I know the Democrats are equally dogmatic in many of their beliefs but I'm using logic as the ideal here, not the mirror image party poop we've been force fed from birth.

I've got a small, completely unknown blog at www.spundrunk.blogspot.com. If you get a chance check it out. This email will be posted there about two minutes after I get my next iced mocha. Maybe just a single this time since I'm typing like an epileptic chicken on LSD as it is.

I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Jeff Scott
